Crane Rescue

Crane Ascending
by Genevie Henderson

 Crane Rescue

One thousand orphaned children cling to her wings

Full Moon pulls

them to rocky cradles

One thousand tiny victims of war hide in her feathers

Full Moon pulls them

into a nightlight glow

Far from the earth

Saved babies sleep in peace.

  1. WOW! Conni, I LOVE your poetry for this artwork - so much that we drove to Portage la Prairie /"Prairie Fusiion" Gallery, especially to see the exhibit. Though there are other appealing paintings, and thought-provoking and moving words from poets, there is no doubt that your awesome poetry, combined with Genevie's "Crane Ascending" image, is the most powerful pairing of all. ... and a perfect Remembrance Day image!) WOW! At the gallery I didn't see a place to add such comments, so I am glad to share them now. ('Looked like there was an opportunity for other-than general viewers, like us, to vote. If otherwise, you would have received our vote for sure!
